As a consumer of CIS controls to assist customers, I finally am at the point to get involved to a degree where viewed as helpful. Initially perusing Control 3: DATA PROTECTION esp. Safeguards 3.4 thru 3.12 and offer this thought: Would it make sense to refactor these subcontrols to align with data lifecycles, the ongoing abstractions for what actually resides on small form factor devices, other misc bus/tech drivers that increasingly blur the lines between these topics, sub-topics and their respective security guidance?
