motd and network access

We see that motd accesses a server on AWS on port 8089.
But should this service not be disabled, or at least not being able to contact servers on the internet and exchange information.

We can not find explicid instructions on disabling motd , but it seems a irrelevant service that should be disabled.

Are you using a CIS Hardened Image on AWS? If so can you please create a Product Technical Support ticket at https://www.cisecurity.org/support?
